A neck-and-neck battle between Park and Sauk Rapids on Thursday, Dec. 29 ended in a 3-3 tie. Goalie Caitlin Tate (2-0-1) made 43 saves to keep Park in the game.

Aggressive play from Park (8-6) resulted in 14 shots on goal, compared to eight shots on goal from Sauk Rapids, in the first period. Good pressure allowed Caitlin Quinn (assist by Anna Keys) to tie the game with a powerplay goal a minute after Sauk Rapids took the lead.

Sauk Rapids (9-6) responded with strong plays of their own in the second period, briefly pulling into the lead and reversing the ratio of shots on goal to 17-7 in their favor. But Park stayed in the game, and Mary Turitto (assists Quinn and Allie Thalhuber) answered with a goal for the Pack with only 20 seconds left in the second period.

Park’s momentum carried them into the third period, and a goal from Ashley Wagenman (assist Callie McCarthy) gave them a lead, but after pulling their goalie Sauk Rapids tied the game once more with less than a minute remaining in the game.

Despite taking seven shots on goal during overtime play, Park was unable to make anything of those opportunities, and the final score remained tied 3-3.

Park will play Stillwater (9-4) at home on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 3 p.m.
