NHLers to hit ice for East Ridge hockey programs

Bielenberg Ice Arena will get some heavy-duty guests later this month, when former Minnesota NHL players take to the ice.
The players will be appearing Dec. 30 as part of a benefit event for the East Ridge High School boys and girls hockey programs.
The benefit features members of the Minnesota NHL Alumni Association, who will face off against a “season team of local players,” according to a news release.
Also appearing at the event will be Minnesota Wild coach and Woodbury resident Mike Yeo, who will sign autographs along with Wild television analyst Mike Greenlay.
NHL alumni who will be appearing include Wes Walz and Brad Bombardir – both of Woodbury – and East Ridge girls hockey coaches Craig Norwich and Tom Younghans. Others alums appearing will be Phil Housley, Brad Maxwell, Dave Richter, Gordie Roberts, Reed Larson, Erick Rasmussen, Jeff Teal, Sean Toomey and Joe Dziedzic.
The NHLers will be coached by Steve Payne. Ron Foyt and Roger Gilbertson will officiate the game.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m.; the NHL alumni game begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
