Arnie Moen, trusted 'advisor' and longtime St. Paul Park resident, dies at 94

Arnie Moen, a former longtime St. Paul Park resident and for many years a fixture at two local banks, has died. He was 94.

Moen died Sunday in a Glencoe nursing home where he had lived for three years.

Moen was an insurance agent and for many years worked out of the former Town & Country Bank in Newport. Local residents may also remember him more recently from his time as vice president of public relations at Anchor Bank in St. Paul Park, where he worked from 1999 until he retired in 2008.

Rhonda Mann of Anchor Bank started working with Moen in 1986. Mann said Moen was trusted and well-liked in the community.

“We all say that Arnie definitely had no enemies,” she said. “Everybody loved him and really used him as an advisor.”

Moen’s advice extended beyond banking and insurance.

“Anything in their lives that they needed help with, they came to him,” Mann said of people young and old. “He was just one of those people you could totally trust.”

Just last month Moen was awarded a 70-year membership pin from the Newport Masonic Lodge, where he was a past master.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at Community United Church of Christ, 1140 Summit Ave., St. Paul Park.
