SOFTBALL DIVISION

RULES OF PLAY

(Document formerly known as Cottage Grove Athletic Association Softball Division Bylaws)

IV. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

A. For participation in the CGAA Softball program, players must meet the following eligibility requirements:

2. For participation in the traveling program players who live outside of the Park High School attendance boundary (as defined by School District 833) may play for CGAA Softball, but meet certain obligations. (Updated October 2011)

a. At 10U and 12U, players may play for CGAA Softball without requesting permission, provided they have a history of playing only for CGAA. (Added October 2011)

b. At 14U, players must present a written request to the CGAA Softball Board no less than 2 weeks prior to tryouts stating their intent to attend Park High School or provide proof that they are attending Park High School, private or parochial school or home schooling. Players attending or intending to attend East Ridge High School will be allowed to complete a team roster at the lowest level of play, without displacing a Park High School player. c. At 16U and 18U, players must present a written request to the CGAA Softball Board no less than 2 weeks prior to tryouts and proof that they are attending Park High School, private or parochial school or home schooling. Players attending East Ridge High School will be allowed to complete a team roster at the lowest level of play, without displacing a Park High School player. (Added October 2011)

d. The Board will review all written requests and give a written response. All decisions of the Board are final. (Updated October 2011)

b. Once a player leaves CGAA and tries out for another association's traveling program, they are no longer eligible to play traveling for CGAA. Any returning players would be eligible to play in the In-House program. If a player leaves to play in another association's In-House program, they are eligible to play traveling, but cannot result in a CGAA player being cut. (Updated October 2011)

V. GOVERNMENT

B. The Board of Directors shall consist of fourteen (14) elected officers and the Past President. President, Director of the In-House Senior Leagues, Director of the In-House Junior Leagues, Director of Traveling, Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Communication, Tournament Director, Director of Player Development, Director of Fields, Promotions Director, Equipment Manager, Director of Special Events, Member at Large (non-voting position) and Past President (non-voting position). Only elected Board members shall have voting rights at Board meetings with the exceptions of the Member at Large and Past President. (Updated October 2011)

E. Any vacancy, except Past President, shall be filled by interim appointment by the Softball Board. The appointed Officer will hold that position until the next annual election. (Updated October 2011)

F. All elected Board positions shall be for a two (2) Year term. (Updated October 2011)

3. The Past President position will meet the following criteria (Added October 2011)

a. The Past President must have held the office in the prior board term (Added October 2011)

b. The position is a one year term, maximum. (Added October 2011)

c. If there is not a president that has left office at the end of the prior board term, the position will be left vacant and cannot be appointed (Added October 2011)

d. A president removed from office for any reason is not eligible to hold the Past President position. (Added October 2011)

G. Duties and responsibilities of the elected Officers:

16. The Past President:

a. Is an at large member and does not have voting privileges at regular board meetings.

b. Facilitate the transition to the new President in the workings of each board position to maintain efficiency and timing throughout the seasons.

c. Support current President in decisions regarding enforcement of all laws, rules, and regulations

d. Will support the views general membership in all issues

e. Responsible to participate in regular Board Meetings

f. Additional duties may be assigned by the President or committee chair

g. Participate in discussion and help with league activities

A General Membership meeting will be held prior to the next monthly Board Meeting on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the Youth Service Bureau.
