More than 40 runners bundled up for the annual Cottage Grove 5K race and stroller roll on a brisk Saturday morning at Kingston Park.

Racers were a mix of adults and children. First place went to Craig Hagensick of St. Paul, who finished the route in 21 minutes 50 seconds. It was Hagensick's first 5K after having run 10Ks and other longer races.

"It's short," he said of the 5K. "It's kind of nice."

Tim Bunnell of Cottage Grove finished second.

The event is co-sponsored by the Cottage Grove Recreation Department, the Cottage Grove Crime Prevention Board and the Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1.
