Park volleyball: Wolfpack earns first wins of season in Park invite

The Park volleyball team won its first two matches of the 2011 season last week, beating Concordia Academy of Roseville and Bethany Academy at the Park Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Park High School.

The Park volleyball team won its first two matches of the 2011 season last week, beating Concordia Academy of Roseville and Bethany Academy at the Park Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Park High School.

After falling to 15-3-1 Edina 2-0 (25-8, 25-10) to start the tournament, Park won its first game in a match in a 2-1 loss to St. Paul Harding (7-11) in match No. 2 taking the second game of a 26-24, 15-25, 15-8 loss to the Knights. However, Park bounced back with back-to-back wins, 2-1 (25-16, 17-25, 15-10) over Concordia Academy of Roseville (11-9) and 2-0 (25-22, 25-20) over Bethany Academy (5-17) later in the day. Park finished the tournament 2-3 in five matches after a 2-1 (22-25, 25-14, 15-13) loss to New Life Academy (12-7-1) in the Wolfpack’s tournament finale. Park’s individual statistics from the tournament were not made available.

Prior to the tourney, Park fell 3-0 to intra-district foe East Ridge on Tuesday, Sept. 27, in south Woodbury. East Ridge won the Suburban East Conference match 25-16, 25-7, 25-12.

Park ended the week 2-15 overall and 0-6 in the SEC. Individual statistics for Park were not made available.

The Wolfpack played host to Forest Lake (3-14; 1-4 SEC) on Tuesday, Oct. 4, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the Wolfpack goes to White Bear Lake (2-16; 0-6 SEC) on Thursday, Oct. 6.
