School donations helped children
On behalf of the Friends in Need Food Shelf I would like to thank the following organizations for their generous donations to our annual school supply drive: Crossroads Church, St. Rita’s Catholic Church, The Alley Church, Cottage Grove’s “Night to Unite,” Supermom’s, Cottage Grove United Church of Christ and Mom’s Club.
A special thank you goes out to Northern Tier Energy for their donation of 700 backpacks and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for their cash donation of $500. Through all these gifts we were able to provide school supplies to over 650 children. Also, thank you to the many volunteers who gave of their time on distribution day. Your compassion was greatly appreciated. If you would like more information on our school supply drive please contact me at (651)459-5169.

Club thankful for local support
The Girls Soccer Booster Club would like to thank the community for coming out for the annual Girls Soccer Spaghetti Dinner at the Red Bard on Aug. 21. We served over 700 spaghetti dinners, raffled off fun items and enjoyed connecting with old friends and meeting new ones. We would love to list every person who donated items for the raffle, but I suspect it would be too long for the paper.
The Booster Club, along with the soccer players, would like to thank so many people and local businesses for donating items. We especially want to thank Cottage Grove Carbones, Cub Foods, Mississippi Dunes, Vonhanson’s Meats, McDonalds, D Brians Deli and Catering (St. Paul) and the VFW Red Barn for their very generous donations of food and space. And of course, a huge thank you to the coaches who mentor our girls every day. We could not have the successful program we have without everyone’s support.
So now come cheer the team on. The girls are off to a great start.
