Park volleyball: Wolfpack falls twice to open 2011 season

The Park volleyball team started the season 0-2 with a pair of non-conference losses — 3-0 to Red Wing on Thursday, Sept. 1, and 3-0 to St. Paul Central on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Against Red Wing, Park was downed 25-16 in game No. 1, 25-14 in game No. 2 and 25-22 in the third game. Team leaders in the match were freshman middle hitter Sydney Lamberty in kills with six, freshman outside hitter Alex Kelly in assists with 14 and aces with three and senior outside hitter Erin Melson in digs with eight. Against St. Paul Central, Park lost 23-25, 15-25 and 18-25. Individual statistics weren’t made available.

Next, Park travels across town to take on rival Woodbury on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
