Cottage Grove police reports for Aug. 30
Recent reports include property damage, trespassing, vandalism, theft, fraud and burglary.
Property damage
A homeowner in the 7300 block of Janero Avenue reported July 29 that a vehicle parked at the residence was egged and that an egg was placed in the gas tank.
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 31 that a window was broken on a vehicle parked in the 11300 block of Kingsborough Trail. No damage estimate listed. There were no suspects.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 1 that a rock was thrown through the window of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 8400 block of Hillside Trail. Damage estimated at $500.
A Cottage Grove woman living in the 9600 block of Hames Avenue reported Aug. 3 that the hose to her pool had been damaged. No damage estimate listed.
Trespassing
Cottage Grove police on routine patrol after 7 p.m. July 31 encountered two people at Hamlet Park who were known to have been prohibited from using the park. Subsequently, Brad Couet-Kamrath, 19, of Richfield, was cited for trespassing. Kyle Weber, 19, St. Paul Park, was arrested on suspicion of trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree drug possession.
A police officer on routine patrol Aug. 3 found a broken window on a condemned residence in the 8200 block of Hyde Avenue. The officer then found evidence of trespassing within the home. There were no suspects.
Vandalism
A Cottage Grove homeowner reported Aug. 1 that someone had thrown eggs and toilet paper on the house.
Vandalism and theft
A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 2 that food and trash were thrown on her vehicle parked in the 6500 block of Innsdale Ave. A cellphone charger was stolen from the vehicle.
Theft
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 2 that someone stole a Honda mini-bike that was parked outside the residence in the 8700 block of East Point Douglas Lane. The bike was valued at between $125 and $1,000.
A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 3 that someone stole cigarettes and headphones from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 8200 block of Hillside Trail. Loss: $26.
Police received a report Aug. 3 that a wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 9200 block of Hillside Trail. Loss: $25.
Police received a report Aug. 3 that a GPS device was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 8900 block of Jasmine Lane. Loss: $200.
A woman told police Aug. 5 that someone stole her wallet while she was shopping for groceries at Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road. Subsequently, the woman discovered two unauthorized transactions on her bank card. There were no suspects.
Fraud
Verizon Wireless, 8800 East Point Douglas Road, reported Aug. 3 that a man entered the store and filled out an application for a phone. The men left the store while the application was being processed. When Verizon contacted the applicant's supposed employer, the business had no record of an employee by that man's name. He never returned to the Verizon store.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 5 that she discovered unauthorized transactions to a bank account, totaling $2,906. The charges were made in St. Louis Park and Apple Valley. The case was under investigation.
Burglary
A Cottage Grove resident told police that burglars entered the home while people were sleeping inside. According to police, a homeowner in the 6800 block of Cattail Court reported that an unknown person entered the house through an unlocked door and stole miscellaneous items valued at $3,560. Nobody was injured in the overnight burglary.
