SEVERE WEATHER: Downpours, high winds as severe storm strikes south Washington County

Storms packing winds of up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail are sweeping into south Washington County Tuesday afternoon as the National Weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area.
The storm started unleashing a torrential downpour and gusting winds in Cottage Grove shortly after 1:45 p.m. Monday, with south Washington County in the path of a storm system impacting Washington, Dakota, Hennepin and Ramsey counties in Minnesota, and Pierce and St. Croix counties in Wisconsin.
The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 2:30 p.m., according to the Weather Service. The high winds could be damaging, a weather advisory warned.
