Led by matching 79 scores from Luke Schrader and Spencer Patterson, the East Ridge boys golf team won the 18-team Don Saatzer Invitational at Hastings Country Club on Monday, May 2, with a 320 total score.
Hill-Murray took second place with a 323 score. Park finished in a tie for sixth place with host Hastings and Burnsville with a 332 score. Fellow District 833 school Woodbury shot a 346 to take 13th overall.
In addition to Schrader and Patterson, East Ridge’s Jake Winbush and Brady Hanson each carded 81s to round out the Raptors’ top four.
Hill-Murray’s Aaron Pulanco won the match with a 75.
Woodbury’s individual scores were not made available.
After the Don Saatzer invite, Park shot a 318 at River Oaks Golf Course on Tuesday, May 3, to take third place in the 10-team Suburban East Conference match. East Ridge carded a 330 to take eighth place. Woodbury was last with a 349 score. It was the first SEC match of the 2011 season.
Forest Lake shot a 301 to win the SEC match and take hold of an early conference lead.
Park senior Jack Barnhart led the Wolfpack with a 3-over-par 75 at River Oaks.
Brady Hanson led the Raptors with a 78, Winbush carded an 83, Patterson shot 84 and Will Fenton scored an 85 to round out the team’s top four. Woodbury’s individual scores were not made available.
Roseville’s Sam Matthew and Forest Lake’s Trevor Thompson earned medalist honors with matching 70 scores.
The three District 833 teams competed in an SEC match at Prestwick on Monday, May 9, after the Bulletin went to press. The next conference match for the three teams is Monday, May 16, at Forest Hills in Forest Lake with a 2:30 p.m. start time.
