Residents in St. Paul Park’s voting Precinct 1 will have a new place to cast their ballots beginning in this fall’s municipal election.
Voters in that precinct will now go to the polls in the council chambers at St. Paul Park City Hall, 600 Portland Ave. That’s a short move from the old polling place at the St. Paul Park Fire Department, which is in the same City Hall complex, just outside in the fire department garage.
The precinct relocation was necessary, St. Paul Park City Administrator Kevin Walsh said, because of the new August date for the state of Minnesota’s primary election. With August’s heat and humidity — and the fire hall’s lack of air conditioning — could have an adverse effect on the precinct’s voting equipment, he said.
The City Council approved the change April 4.
