Forecast: More snow, then sun and warmer temps

South Washington County could see another 1 to 3 inches of snow during the day Monday, but the forecast improves for Tuesday and Wednesday.

South Washington County could see another 1 to 3 inches of snow during the day Monday, but the forecast improves for Tuesday and Wednesday.

That's according to the National Weather Service, which forecasts snow mixed with freezing drizzle Monday morning followed by snow after noon.

Monday's accumulation comes on top of the snow that fell Sunday and Sunday night. The nearest National Weather Service estimates showed about 8 inches of accumulation in Woodbury and Hastings through late Sunday evening.

The snowfall mixed with wind gusts reduced visibility and made driving dangerous. The Minnesota State Patrol had advised no unnecessary travel through Sunday night. Highways and main thoroughfares in the Cottage Grove area were cleared by Monday morning.

The National Weather Service forecast looks up for the rest of the week. It forecasts a partly sunny day Tuesday with a high near 25 degrees. There is a 20 percent chance of snow Wednesday, but temperatures could reach 35 degrees.
