New Life Academy senior forward Cara Lutes went over 2,000 points for her career in a 60-33 win over Legacy Christian in the opening round of the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association championship tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at NLA.

Lutes, who has played on the Eagles’ varsity team four years, had nine points in the win and now has 2,002 points.

Last year, Lutes became the New Life Academy girls basketball program’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing former teammate Jenny Ramey’s record of 1,518 points — a record she set in 2008.

She is currently averaging 15.8 points per game, which is second best for the Eagles and No. 2 in the MCAA.
