A fine day for outdoor skating

Mild weather was enjoyed at Cottage Grove's annual skating party Saturday at the pond in Highlands Park.

Children and families can go ice skating all winter long on any of the rinks in Cottage Grove parks, but there’s something special about skating on real pond.

That was evident during the annual skating party on the pond in Highlands Park Feb. 12. The event had been postponed in January because it was too cold, but last Saturday the temperature went in the other direction. At 40 degrees, it was the warmest day since November.

The mild weather brought many kids and adults to the pond to skate, enjoy sitting by a roaring fire, listen to music or participate in a snowball fight – all compliments of the Cottage Grove Parks and Recreation Department.
