Tartan head coach Darin Glazier has been named the new head football coach at Park High School, according to Park Activities Director Phil Kuemmel.

Glazier, who has been the head coach of the Titans since 2006 after being an assistant at Tartan for six years, takes over for longtime Park head coach Doug Ekmark, who resigned following the Wolfpack’s 0-9 season this past fall. Ekmark, 62, spent 26 years as the head coach.

Tartan was 6-4 out of the Classic Suburban Conference this past fall, beating Irondale 13-12 before falling to Stillwater 32-16 in the second round of the Section 2AAAAA tournament. The Titans were 3-6 in 2009-10, 6-4 in 2008-09, 7-4 in 2007-08 and 7-4 in 2006-07.

Glazier is a Cottage Grove resident and has children that go to school in the district. He was selected over two out-of-state candidates among the three finalists.

Kuemmel said that one thing that separated Glazier from the other candidates was his intense passion for Park High School and his knowledge of the “situation and obstacles” surrounding the Park football program.
