Park girls basketball: Wolfpack beats Forest Lake, improves to 10-8 overall

The Park girls basketball team improved to 3-1 in its last four Suburban East Conference games with a 67-57 handling of Forest Lake on Friday, Jan. 28, at Forest Lake High School.

The Park girls basketball team improved to 3-1 in its last four Suburban East Conference games with a 67-57 handling of Forest Lake on Friday, Jan. 28, at Forest Lake High School.

In the game, Park (10-8; 5-6 SEC) took a 39-30 halftime lead and held on, outpacing the Rangers 28-27 in the second half.

Park sophomore guard Larissa Lurken led the way with a team-high 22 points. Additionally, senior forward Sarah Wenner scored 12 points, junior guard Rachel Kothe had 10 points and freshman guard Sydney Lamberty netted nine points in the Wolfpack’s balanced attack.

Bailey Norby had a game-high 23 points for Forest Lake (6-12; 3-8 SEC).

On the year, Lurken, who was an All-Conference player as a freshman, leads Park in scoring at 13.6 points per game, followed by Lamberty at 13.4 points per game.

Next, Park welcomes intra-district rival Woodbury (12-4; 9-2 SEC) to Cottage Grove on Tuesday, Feb. 1. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
