Over the years, Grey Cloud Island Township officials have reported illegal-dumping incidents along local roads and in ditches.
The latest dumping incident occurred in early December, said Township Clerk Rich Mullen at the monthly board meeting.
Old television sets, a couch and other furniture were dumped but St. Paul Park Police, with which the township contracts for police services, found the owner and is pursuing the matter.
Apparently the owner is claiming that he hired a hauler who dumped the unwanted household items, Mullen said.
“We don’t really care,” said Town Board Chair Dick Adams. “It belongs to the owner.”
The town board voted in December to send a letter of thanks to the department along with a police-requested list of $87.67 in township expenses to haul it away and bring the television sets to the Washington County Environmental Center in Woodbury.
