Park boys swimming & diving: Wolfpack ties Roseville in first conference dual meet

After finishing 0-9 last year, Park has bested that record one meet into the 2010-11 season after earning a tie with Suburban East Conference foe Roseville in the Wolfpack’s first dual meet of the year.
Down 87-85, Park took first place in the final event of the meet — the 400 freestyle relay — to outscore the Raiders 8-6 in the event and secure the 93-93 tie.
Against the Raiders, eighth-grader Adam Raymond helped the Wolfpack earn the tie. Raymond broke the Middle School record in the 200-yard freestyle, taking first place in the event with a time of 2:01.54. Raymond also finished in second place in the 500-yard freestyle and helped the 200 free relay and 400 free relay teams finish in first place.
Additionally, Travis Dorsch took first place in the 100-yard butterfly and in the 100-yard breaststroke while also helping the 200 free relay team earn first place. Also, Conner Rand won the 50-yard freestyle and took second place in the 100-yard backstroke, Nick Bibeau earned first place in the 100-yard freestyle and second place in the 200-yard I.M., Park’s 200 medley relay took first place, and diver Tyler Gelbmann earned second place off the one-meter board.
After tying Roseville, Park competed in the eight-team Woodbury High School Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 18, in Woodbury, taking seventh place with 91 points. Apple Valley won the meet with 322 points.
Gelbmann led the way for the Wolfapck in the meet, taking fourth place overall with a personal-best 237.35 score. Additionally, Dorsch earned fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke, Raymond and Bibeau were seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke, Rand took ninth in the 50 free, Matt Henry earned eighth place in the 100—yard freestyle and the Wolfpack’s 400-yard freestyle team of Bibeau, Rand, Raymond and Nick Wheelock took sixth place.
Next, Park takes on Tartan in a non-conference dual meet on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Oakdale’s Skyview Middle School.
