The Park wrestling team was upended 50-18 by 10th ranked Suburban East Conference foe White Bear Lake on Thursday, Dec. 9, in White Bear Lake.
The loss dropped Park to 2-5 on the year and 1-3 in the SEC.
In the match, Park scored on pins at 130 pounds by Max Flipp, at 140 pounds by Kenny Gerhardt and at 189 pounds by freshman Cody Linssen.
“We were hoping to win six or seven matches on the night,” Park head coach Jim LaBrosse said. “Unfortunately we lost all the close ones and gave up to many pins again.”
Close losses came at 125 pounds as eighth-grader Emilio Huerta lost 8-5, and at 145 pounds as Ron Detzler lost 6-4.
“They are a good team with five ranked wrestlers and we actually wrestled those kids pretty tough,” LaBrosse said. “We are gaining experience and it’s just going to take some time. We are making adjustments at certain weight classes and in time, we will be competitive. We have a good group of wrestlers but we need to be better conditioned and learn how to finish matches.”
Park’s 14-team Wolfpack duals originally set for Saturday, Dec. 11, were canceled on account of the winter storm.
Next, the Wolfpack welcomes Cretin-Derham Hall to Park High School on Thursday, Dec. 16, for Parent’s Night.
