The Woodbury wrestling team opened the year winning the second-annual District 833 triangular over Suburban East Conference and intra-district rivals Park and East Ridge on Thursday, Dec. 2, at Woodbury High School.
Woodbury defeated Park 36-34 in its first match and East Ridge 66-16 in match No. 2 to claim the win and the District 833 traveling trophy for the first time. In the night’s first match, Park defeated East Ridge 56-18.
Last year, in the first District 833 triangular, Park defeated East Ridge and Woodbury in the first meet of the annual tradition, which was held at East Ridge High School, to earn the right to put its name on traveling trophy.
However, this year, the Royals are king.
