State swimming and diving: Karrow wins state diving championship

East Ridge sophomore Jenna Karrow won the Class AA state diving championship on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the University of Minnesota, edging her friend and fellow District 833 diver Emily Bonfig from Woodbury.
Karrow, the leader after the preliminary and semifinal rounds, scored a meet-best 453.10 to win the state title. Bonfig, a junior at Woodbury, scored a 425.65, leapfrogging Forest Lake junior Jessica Ramberg, who was in second place going into the final three dives.
Leading with 397.20 points, Karrow uncorked a 55.9 on her final dive to all but ice the state championship.
Additionally, Woodbury senior Erin Kohlbeck took fourth place with a score of 402.40 and East Ridge senior Bailee Meyer was ninth with a score of 364.10.
