A wide-open race in CG as Election Day looms

Four fresh faces and one council veteran will vie for two Cottage Grove City Council seats when voters head to the polls to decide what appears to be a wide-open race.

Four fresh faces and one council veteran will vie for two Cottage Grove City Council seats when voters head to the polls to decide what looks like a wide open race.

Council member Pat Rice is seeking his fourth term on the council, and is facing four opponents, only one of whom has previously sought public office — Derrick Lehrke, who narrowly lost out on a council seat in 2008.

Public Safety Commission chair Angela Chambliss — who was endorsed last month by a Cottage Grove police officers association — former Planning Commission chair David Thiede and Human Rights/Human Services Commission member Tanweer Janjua are also seeking a council seat.
