A pair of victories in Minnesota Christian Athletic Association play improved the New Life Academy volleyball team to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
“Our two conference wins last week gave us a lot of confidence going forward,” coach Wally Bomgren said.
New Life rallied from an initial deficit against Legacy Christian (1-9 overall, 1-2 MCAA) to win in four games (21-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-11) at home on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
“Once we get warmed up in a match, we cut our mistakes down,” Bomgren said.
The Eagles only needed three games (25-12, 27-25, 25-11) to defeat Bethany Academy (5-5, 1-3) on Thursday, Sept. 16.
New Life outside hitter Rebekah Schmidt entered the week with 105 kills, which ranked her 23rd in the state. Libero Jenae Rankin was 15th in the state with 140 digs as the Eagles headed into a MCAA matchup against Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity (10-4, 2-1) on Tuesday, Sept. 21, after the Bulletin went to press. New Life will play in the Simley Tournament in Inver Grove Heights on Saturday, Sept. 25.
