A few more candidates file for office in Newport
Six candidates have now filed to fill two Newport City Council seats.

Candidates have until Aug. 17 to file.
The Newport candidates include: Steven P. Gallagher, Corb Hopkins, Anthony Mahood, Katy McElwee-Stevens, Tracy Rahm and Tom Stettner.
The seats up for election in Newport are currently held by Pauline Schottmuller, who has said she will not seek re-election, and Hopkins, who was appointed to fill the council seat vacated by Tim Geraghty when he was elected mayor.
In Cottage Grove, three candidates have filed so far to run for two open council seats.
The candidates are Tanweer "TJ" Janjua, Pat Rice and Dave Thiede. The seats up for election this fall are currently held by Rice and Mark Grossklaus, who previously announced he would not seek re-election.
