District not just Woodbury

The Republican Party endorsement in the recent school board election is not my only item of concern. Sometime last week we received a flyer in the mail (I live in Woodbury).  It started out “ATTENTION VOTERS… School Board Election this Tuesday, November 3rd, ISD 833, South Washington County Schools.” The next sentence floored me: “To ensure Woodbury has a strong voice for our schools and for our children, please support… Laurie Johnson, Woodbury resident, Edward Nowak, Woodbury resident, David Kemper, Woodbury resident.”

 Did these candidates forget they were running for a school board —  not a city election? The children of District 833 — Woodbury, St. Paul Park, Newport, Cottage Grove and Grey Cloud Island Township all deserve a good education.  Any candidate identifying with a specific location or political party lost my vote immediately! This is the kind of information that people in this district should know about and have an explanation for. I plan to write to each of them this week and express my concern about the mailing.
