Funeral time, wake set for Newport man fatally hit by vehicle

A Newport man fatally hit by a vehicle on White Bear Avenue in Maplewood will be remembered Thursday and Friday.

The wake for Michael J. Wilken, 56, of Newport will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bradshaw Funeral Home at 4600 Greenhaven Drive in White Bear Township.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church at 900 Stillwater Road in Mahtomedi.

Wilken, a Ramsey County Sheriff's Office reserve deputy, was helping with crowd control at the Fright Farm Haunted House when he crossed White Bear Avenue to give a motorist directions. He was hit as he walked back to the side of the road.
