The commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has approved a final cleanup plan for the 3M Cottage Grove site.
The site is contaminated with perfluorochemicals, chemicals that don't break down quickly in the environment, and have made their way into Cottage Grove's municipal drinking water.
About 50,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil and sediment will be removed from the site and placed in a sealed landfill in Rosemount.
