The following items were on the Cottage Grove Police Department's list of calls between Friday, Aug. 28 and Sunday, Aug. 30:
A Cottage Grove resident reported Friday, Aug. 28, they paid for a purchase using Western Union, and are now being told to pay $1,500 for export license fees. The company is suspected to be running a scam.
A resident in the 8300 block of Hadley Avenue reported credit card fraud Saturday, Aug. 29. The fraudulent transaction was made in El Paso, Texas for $519.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Saturday, Aug. 29, that someone obtained their checking account information, created false checks, and withdrew $1,753.85 from their account.
Police were called to Hadley Avenue and 65th Street around 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, on a report of multiple gunshots coming from the north, but they were unable to determine the location of the gunfire.
A backpack was reported stolen Saturday, Aug. 29, from a block party that had occurred the night before in Hamlet Park. The backpack contained miscellaneous identification cards, a $150 iPod and $55 in cash.
