Sheriff’s reserve seeks applicants

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applicants for the volunteer position of Reserve Deputy Sheriff.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applicants for the volunteer position of Reserve Deputy Sheriff.

The Sheriff’s Reserve is comprised of highly motivated individuals from varying backgrounds who willingly give their time and talent in support of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The volunteers are fellow citizens, some are retired and some are law enforcement aspirants who willingly give back to the community.

Reserve Deputies volunteer their time, to promote safety in the county parks and on the rivers, lakes and trails within Washington County. They are also called upon to assist in controlling and securing scenes of natural disasters, crime scenes, searching for lost persons, staffing for special education and informational assignments.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a criminal history and background check. Applicants must not have any physical or medical conditions which would limit their ability to perform their assigned duties. All applicants will undergo an interview process and a background check.

Applicants must satisfactorily complete the Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s Academy which will begin in January 2010.
