More than fried food and farm animals
Something for everyoneBy: Judy Spooner, South Washington County Bulletin
Maddie Groskopf lives in Prescott, Wis., but keeps her sheep, Hal, at her grandmother’s farm in Denmark Township in Washington County. As a member of the Riverside Rooters 4-H Club, she hopes there will be enough private donations so she can continue in 4-H now that the Washington County Board has cut funding.
There were several places at the Washington County Fair that accepted donations to 4-H, an integral part of the fair held in Lake Elmo July 29 to Aug. 2.
With good weather and plenty of traditional fair food including fries, corn-on-the-cob, malts and mini-doughnuts, fair-goers watched lumberjack logrolling, pig racing and horse shows.
There was something for everyone at the fair.
