District’s revenue below average
Other districts have more commercial and industrial propertyBy: Judy Spooner, South Washington County Bulletin
Revenue for 48 metropolitan school districts averaged $9,813 per student for the 2007-2008 school year, but funding for School District 833 was below that at $8,989, according to data compiled by the Minnesota Department of Education and given to school board members at the July 9 meeting.
The main reason for low district revenue is that other districts have more commercial and industrial taxable property, according to district Finance Director Aaron Bushberger.
The district ranked 34th of 48 in total operating expenses. District-level administration ranked 46th of 48 districts. Regular instruction ranked 21st. Pupil support services ranked sixth. Operations and maintenance ranked 38th.
