A 13-year-old St. Paul Park girl was treated for possible whiplash after the car she was a passenger in was rear-ended Sunday evening at the busy intersection of 80th Street and East Point Douglas Road.
The three-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 5:15 p.m. Sunday when a Dodge van headed westbound on 80th Street skidded, then rear-ended another vehicle — which in-turn rear-ended another car — just after the traffic light had turned green, according to Cottage Grove Police.
Woodbury EMS responded to the scene and treated the 13-year-old girl for neck discomfort. Cottage Grove paramedics were responding to other medical calls at the time, said Pete Koerner, deputy director of public safety.
The 34-year-old St. Paul Park man driving the Dodge told police he had seen the light turn green, but hadn’t noticed the other cars still stopped at the intersection. He was cited for inattentive driving, according to police.
There were no other injuries reported at the scene.
