Feeling a little slighted by earning only the No. 7 seed in the Section 3 playoffs, the Park-Woodbury girls lacrosse team is out to prove it is one of the region’s better teams.

On Tuesday, May 19 the Royal Pack took out its frustrations on 10th seed Prior Lake with a 10-1 win in the first round of the section tournament.

Park-Woodbury (9-7 overall) will now face off with Burnsville on Thursday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at Burnsville High School. The Blaze (11-2) avoided a first-round upset, sneaking by No. 15 Visitation with an 8-7 win.

Burnsville defeated Park-Woodbury 9-5 back on April 22. However, a win over the Blaze would move the Royal Pack to the section semifinals — the furthest the team has ever advanced in the playoffs.

In the win over Prior Lake, led by eight different goal-scorers, Park-Woodbury took a 7-0 lead at halftime and never looked back in defeating the Lakers (3-11).

Park junior Erin Spinks and Park senior Katie Bahls led the way for the Royal Pack with two goals apiece. Park-Woodbury’s Sophia Bainbridge, Kelby Land, Kayla Guanella, Amanda McNeese, Holly Frankenberg and Liz Bailey each added one goal.

The Royal Pack now has six different players in double figures in goal scoring this season, compared to having only two players in double figures last season.
