Park tennis: Wolfpack makes quick work of Packers in round one

The Park boys tennis team made quick work of South St. Paul in the first round of the Section 3AA tournament on Tuesday, May 12, winning 6-1, and is now moving on to the quarterfinals where it will face No. 3 seed Apple Valley.

The Park boys tennis team made quick work of South St. Paul in the first round of the Section 3AA tournament on Tuesday, May 12, winning 6-1, and is now moving on to the quarterfinals where it will face No. 3 seed Apple Valley.

Park, seeded sixth — it's highest seed in 10 years — won three of four singles matches and swept doubles to beat the 11th seeded Packers.

For Park (8-7), Ben Uecker won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, John Vaillancourt won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Alex Hanson won 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 4 singles. In doubles play the pair of Luke Landgraf and Matt Sachs won 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 1 doubles, while Brady Scott and Peter Schrankler won 6-1, 6-2 at second doubles and Nick Jury and Isaac Youngquist won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

The Wolfpack will now travel to Apple Valley to take on the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
