The environmental assessment is a big step for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in the process of getting a new bridge built across the Mississippi River in Hastings.
Paper copies of the assessment are available at the Pleasant Hill Library, the Park Grove Public Library in Cottage Grove and on MnDOT’s Web site at: www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/hastingsbridge/ea.html.
According to a MnDOT press release, “Comments will be received until June 17 and should address the accuracy and completeness of environmental assessment information, potential impacts that warrant further investigation, and project alternative preferences you have and why.”
There will be a public hearing on the environmental assessment from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, at Hastings City Hall. There will be a court reporter on hand to record any public comments. Summaries of the assessment will be given in presentations at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The final EA may be made available in alternative formats for individuals with disabilities.
