Park’s baseball and softball season openers, originally set for Monday, April 6, have been postponed because of the cold weather.

The Wolfpack’s baseball game against Cretin-Derham Hall, which was originally set for 4:15 p.m. today, has now been moved to the same time tomorrow — Tuesday, April 7 — at Park’s Granny Smith Field.

The softball team’s varsity and “B” team games set for today against Forest Lake were pushed to Thursday, April 9 at Park at 4:15 p.m. which means the Wolfpack's season and home opener will now be on Wednesday, April 8 at 4:15 p.m. against Cretin-Derham Hall.

Park Activities Director Phil Kuemmel said, although it snowed on Saturday, April 4, the baseball and softball fields looked ready.

“It’s a little cold,” Kuemmel said. “If it was warmer, fieldwise we probably would have been ok. It was just the cold.”

Kuemmel said the weather forecast for the days ahead looked positive, which also made it an easier decision to move the games to later this week.

“If the whole week looked bad and it looked like it would have been dry today, we probably would have tried to get them in,” Kuemmel said. “But the rest of the week looks good so we know we can get a little better conditions later on in the week.”
