Newport Elementary School principal moving to Liberty Ridge

Newport Elementary School Principal Mike Moore will take the reins as principal of Liberty Ridge Elementary School in Woodbury next fall, it was announced last week by School District 833 officials.

Moore, who came to the district from the Anoka-Hennepin School District, is in his third year at Newport.

Moore replaces Liberty Ridge Principal Kari Lopez who will move on to be principal at Woodbury Middle School on July 1. She was formerly an administrative intern at Crestview Elementary School and was principal of Hillside Elementary School.

Superintendent Tom Nelson said he expects the Newport post to be filled by the end of the current school year.
