ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

2009 SEAL COATING

CITY OF COTTAGE GROVE

Sealed bids will be received by the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, Washington County, Minnesota, in the City Hall at 7516 80th Street South until 11:00 a.m., April 1, 2009 at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud for the furnishing of the following:

Construction of a bituminous

seal coat

With cover aggregate over

Approximately 352,953 Square Yards

In accordance with specifications on file in the office of the Public Works Director, 8635 West Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove, Minnesota, 55016.

In general, work consists of the following approximate quantities:

74,216 Gallons bituminous material

Emulsified asphalt

Cationic CRS-2

12,500 Gallons bituminous material

latex modified

Emulsified asphalt

Cationic CRS-2 L.M.

561 Tons of 1/8” trail chip Class A seal coat aggregate

provided by City

2,969 Tons of FA-2 Class A seal coat aggregate to be

provided by City

Bids arriving after the designated time will be returned unopened.

All bids shall be made on the proposal form of the city and shall be accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier’s check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City of Cottage Grove for five percent (5%) of the amount of bid to be forfeited as liquidated damages in the event that the bid is accepted and the bidder shall fail to enter promptly into a written contract and furnish the required bond.

Each bid and all papers bound and attached thereto, together with the bid guarantee shall be placed in an envelope and securely sealed therein. The envelope shall be so marked as to indicate the name of the bidder and the project name, and shall be addressed to the City Hall, at 7516 80th Street South, Cottage Grove, Minnesota, 55016. It may be mailed, delivered by messenger, or submitted in person.

Proposal forms, specifications, plans and other contract documents are on file and may be seen at the office of the Director of Public Works, Cottage Grove, Minnesota.

Copies of the plans and specifications will be furnished on request to any prospective bidder free of charge. Plans and specifications may be picked up in person at the Public Works office at 8635 West Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Mail requests are to be addressed to 8635 West Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove, Minnesota, 55016.

No bidder may withdraw the bid within thirty (30) days after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids. The City Council of Cottage Grove reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities.
