The Minnesota Department of Transportation will provide an opportunity for the community to learn about the options for the future Highway 61 Mississippi River bridge in Hastings at an open house on Tuesday, March 3.
The public and business owners are invited to the Hastings City Hall, 101 Fourth St. E. from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be brief presentations at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Representatives from MnDOT and the city of Hastings will be available to answer questions.
Attendees may comment about the remaining bridge replacement options, MnDOT’s future Highway 61 roadway, and the assessment of potential impacts from the bridge options. Project team members will be available to discuss impacts to properties along the alignments and to cultural resources in the area, including archaeological and historical properties. The input received at the meeting will assist in development of the project Environmental Assessment, which will be published later this spring.
Visualizations of each alternative will be on display to show their different characteristics. As part of this phase of work, MnDOT is developing visual quality criteria that will provide guidance for the construction and appearance of a replacement bridge. MnDOT’s goal is to have the Hastings Bridge improvements under contract by June 1, 2010.
