Recent reports to the Cottage Grove Police Department.
Theft
Two females reported that their purses and backpacks were stolen from a vehicle parked at Catch a Tan Salon Jan. 30. Items stolen included $40 in cash, a Social Security card, a driver’s license, a check card, gift cards, a digital camera and school books. There was no sign of forced entry into the car. Someone had attempted to transfer money from the account linked to a check card stolen in the theft into another account, but the bank refused to do it, according to the report.
Envelopes containing checks were reported stolen Jan. 30 from a mailbox in the 7700 block of Lamar Avenue.
The left taillight and taillight harness were reported stolen Jan. 31 from a truck parked in a driveway in the 7300 block of Langly Avenue. Total loss was $200.
Goggles valued at $120 and a full-face helmet valued at $160 were reported stolen Feb. 2 from the back of a truck parked on Homeward Court.
An envelope containing a check was reported stolen Feb. 2 from a mailbox in the 7000 block of Joliet Avenue. An unknown female cashed the check for approximately $450.
A resident in the 8000 block of Hornell Avenue reported Feb. 3 that they were missing a book of checks and a Medicare and UCare card.
An assistant principal at Cottage Grove Junior High School reported Feb. 3 that a wallet and cell phone that had been stolen from another student was found in the locker of a student who had withdrawn from school.
A cell phone valued at $300 was reported stolen Feb. 4 from a gym locker at Cottage Grove Junior High School.
A battery was reported stolen Feb. 9 from a vehicle parked in the back parking lot of ICC Chemical, located in the 7700 block of 95th Street. Gas was also reported stolen from the vehicle. Loss was $89.
Miscellaneous tools and a leather couch and loveseat were reported stolen Feb. 9 from a garage in the 7900 block of Ideal Avenue.
The door was reported stolen Feb. 10 from a Bobcat parked behind Cub Foods.
The driver’s side window of a vehicle was reported broken out and a radar detector was reported stolen Feb. 7 from a vehicle in the 7200 block of Jordon Avenue. Total loss was $600.
Other
Amanda M. Bentley, 29, of Cottage Grove, was charged with second-degree DWI Feb. 2 in the American Motorsports parking lot after police saw that her car had been driven into a snowbank in the lot and tested her for alcohol impairment. She had not been drinking at the bar, but had been drinking at home before going to the bar to pick up someone else, according to the police report.
Someone reported Feb. 1 that a window was broken out of a white truck parked on Goodview Avenue and someone attempted to steal the stereo.
A man reportedly punched another man and took his wallet inside the Holiday Gas Station at 6921 Pine Arbor Drive Feb. 9.
Police impounded a towing trailer they spotted in the 7000 block of Timber Trail Lane Feb. 6 because it was unlicensed.
