Letter: Council -- Grow up

Wow! I just saw the front page of the Bulletin for Feb. 11.

Who did we elect? Councilwoman Pauline Schottmuller and Mayor Tim Geraghty need to take care of the business of making decisions for improving Newport.

Geraghty needs to stop playing musical chairs with the council members.

Grow up people! You are running a city, not a study hall.

This bickering between councilwoman and mayor needs to stop now. What kind of message are you showing the children who live here in Newport?

If we wanted this kind of representation in our city hall we would have gone down to Newport Elementary and voted for mayor and city council. They could probably do a better job right now. 

I have never been ashamed to live in Newport before, but I sure am now.

It is time to stop complaining about where we are sitting and what meetings we attend and don’t attend. You have three new council members and our councilwoman and mayor are putting them right in the middle of their personal little war.

I had hoped we were stepping ahead with the new members we elected, but I guess we just took a giant step backwards. Way to go children!
