With the ongoing economic troubles hitting families across Washington County and Minnesota, the Minnesota Home Ownership Center and Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority are joining to offer a telephone seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Home owners can call (888) 886-6603 between 7 and 8 p.m. to ask questions and receive free, anonymous information and support from mortgage and foreclosure experts.
“The ongoing trouble on Wall Street is hitting families on Main Street just as hard, leaving many home owners looking for straight answers and real solutions,” observed Julie Gugin, executive director of the Minnesota Home Ownership Center. “We wanted to provide this telephone seminar as a resource for home owners who may have missed a payment – or even those who are nervous about falling behind– to access quality information anonymously, from the comfort of their own home.”
Home owners in danger of missing house payments, and those already behind, are encouraged to join the upcoming telephone seminar about the options available to Minnesotans through the Washington County HRA’s free mortgage support advisors, which are part of the Center’s statewide network of home owner support. The seminar will allow participants to ask questions of expert mortgage advisors without having to leave the comfort and privacy of their own home, and it will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 7 to 8 p.m. To participate, home owners only need to call toll-free to (888) 886-6603.
“Struggling to keep up with a mortgage payment is a personal, stressful situation. Many home owners want to know about their options, but are reluctant to come to a public event for advice,” added Rich Malloy of the Washington County HRA. “The telephone seminar is designed to give people basic information about potential options available through our mortgage support advisors so that home owners can privately make the best choices for their personal situation.
Home owners unsure of whether they would benefit from visiting with a mortgage support advisor are encouraged to attend the telephone seminar for more information, and to reflect on important questions about their mortgage and their financial situation, such as:
• Are you worried about feeling stuck in your mortgage because of adjusting payments or changing home values?
• At the end of the month, do you find yourself struggling to get ahead, or to even keep up?
• Are you questioning the future because you worry about how you will make ends meet today?
“The questions we have posed to home owners are intended to help people reflect on their mortgage situation and evaluate whether our network of mortgage support advisors are a resource they could benefit from,” said Gugin.
