Letter: Two takes on Christmas

This year the world’s much different, and regardless of our age, we’re feeling almost helpless, and even some outrage!

Some Christmas thoughts

This year the world’s much different,

and regardless of our age,

we’re feeling almost helpless,

and even some outrage!

Greed has taken over,

dishonesty is “king,”

trust seems out the window,

so what will next year bring?

But let’s stop and think a minute,

as Christmas comes our way,

for the one who knows our sorrow,

we celebrate this day.

He’s what life is all about,

and a reminder to us all,

that we need to trust in Him,

and He’ll be there if we fall!

He’s our “rock” when things are bad.

He’s our hope when we are sad.

He’s the one who keeps us sane,

when we’re filled with so much pain.

So as Christmas comes this year,

and we celebrate his birth,

let’s ask our Lord to help,

restore some peace to earth.

A very special birthday

As we look across our land,

let’s remember if we can.

The one who gave us this great earth,

and came to us through human birth.

And in our country it’s OK,

to say that Jesus came that way.

For He’s what Christmas is about,

and why his name gets shouted out.

He’s the one who came that night,

when all the stars shined oh so bright,

He’s the reason church bells ring,

and why so many people sing.

He’s the one we all turn to,

when skies are black and we are blue.

He’s the one who calms our fear,

when we’re alone and no one’s near.

Yes, He’s the child who came that night,

to save the world from its plight!

So Christmas Day let’s all rejoice,

and listen to our inner voice.

And thank our God who sent His son,

that special day for everyone.

Merry Christmas!
