School Exec Connect, based in Highland Park, Ill., a Chicago suburb, will get to work this week to find a replacement for District 833 Superintendent Tom Nelson who retires at the end of the school year.

School board members opted for the firm at a workshop meeting, Nov. 6 after interviewing four firms that, in addition to SEC, included Ray and Associates, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Ken LaCroix, Hastings, Minn.; and ADM Group, Mound, Minn.

The district spent $25,000 four years ago for the search that resulted in hiring Nelson.

SEC, in its application, stated the search cost would range from $14,000 to $28,000, according to Board Chair Ron Kath.

The board will set a date to meet with Ken Dragseth from SEC in the near future, according to Kath, to discuss a timeline for the search, which the board wants completed in March, and the interview process that will include applications from administrators already working in the district who have superintendent licensure.
