Letter: Derrick cares

Although new to the political scene, Derrick Lehrke is not a new face in town. He is a lifelong resident of Cottage Grove. I had the pleasure of meeting Derrick when I became friends with his mother, Linda, many years back. I remember one of the things that impressed me most was how much Derrick seemed to care about the people around him. He was courteous and paid attention to what mattered to them. Since that time, Derrick has continued to care about people and the everyday challenges we all have in common. Derrick is running for City Council so that he can become a strong voice for the residents of Cottage Grove. He is committed to serving the people of this city and has proposed to give back to the place he has grown up loving. Derrick and his new wife, Autumn, will be raising their family in Cottage Grove. Derrick is someone we can count on to tackle important issues. He will not spend our money wastefully and will make it a high priority to help this city live within its means. He does not believe that the first response to a money crisis is to raise taxes. Derrick is hard working and someone this city can trust. He has the integrity we need in a city council member. Derrick is someone who will stand up for what is right even when it is not popular to do so. If elected, Derrick will continue to make us proud we live in Cottage Grove.
