Cottage Grove’s Halloween parade and festivities have changed hands, changed names and now include a Friday night activity.
This year’s Halloween celebration — Monster Bash 2008 — is being organized by the Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest Committee. Events will begin with the costume contest, kick-off spaghetti dinner, dance, games and silent auction from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 Red Barn, 9260 East Point Douglas Road.
Dinner is from 5 to 8 p.m., costume judging, 7 to 8 p.m., silent auction winners announced at 7:45 p.m. and dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. Cottage Grove royalty will be painting faces and adding tattoos. Costumes will be judged in the following age categories: 0 to 3, 4 to 7, 8 to 12, 13 to 18 and Best Group.
Tickets are $10 for adults, ages 13 and older and $5 for children, ages 4 to 12. Children, 3 and younger, are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from Sheila at (651) 458-9495.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, the parade will begin at 11 a.m. with line-up at the District Service Center, across from McDonald’s on East Point Douglas Road and march south to the District Program Center, next door to Country Inn & Suites. Trophies will be awarded for Best Float, Best Theme, Halloween Theme and Best Non-Motorized group.
