Supporting St. Paul Park’s Stone Soup Thrift Shop just got a whole lot easier — thanks to an Internet giant all it takes is the click of a mouse.
GoodSearch, www.GoodSearch.com, a new Yahoo!-powered search engine, donates half its advertising revenue, roughly one penny per search, to charities designated by its users. Web surfers use the site just like any standard search engine and, if they select Basic Needs, Inc. of South Washington County as their charity of choice, the donations add up with every search.
Another option is GoodShop, www.GoodShop.com, an online shopping mall that donates up to 37 percent of each purchase made on the site to designated charities. Just make a purchase on the site from one of the participating retailers, a list including Target, Gap, Best Buy, Ebay, Macy’s, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and a portion of the order goes toward non-profits.
