SOUTH WASHINGTON COUNTY SCHOOLS
DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
The South Washington County Schools, School District #833 is proposing to replace the mechanical ventilation systems at the district’s Pine Hill Elementary School.
The proposed project will replace existing ventilation systems in the high school facility for the original 1978 and 1985
areas of the facility. Current systems were designed when ventilation standards were at lower levels than presently required and the current indoor air quality is substandard, air flow is inadequate, and the system is very noisy. The project will replace the existing ventilation system, upgrade the air handling system, improve overall indoor air quality within the building, and provide for ventilation rates as specified under current codes. Students, staff and community users will all benefit from the improved ventilation systems.
The estimated total cost of his project is $3,550,000. The project will be financed through the Alternative Facilities Bonding of $2,850,000 from programs under M.S. 123b,59, Subd.1, and (b)., reserved operating capital funds of $700,000 and pay-as-you-go levy of $285,000. The proposed project total includes all bond issuance costs including capitalized interest. The school board must approve the proposed bond financing.
