Weekend planner: Easter musical this weekend


EASTER MUSICAL DRAMA -- "Crown Him," a musical Easter drama, will be presented at New Life Church of Woodbury, 6758 Bailey Road, at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 9 to 11. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children, 12 and younger. Parents are asked not to bring children, 5 and younger. Tickets can be reserved in advance. ONE VOICE -- A 40-member cast from Light the Way Church, in Cottage Grove, will present "One Voice," an Easter musical, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 9 and 10, and at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at the church, at Jamaica Avenue and 70th Street. GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE -- A presentation of the Passion and the Living Stations of the Cross will be part of the Good Friday worship service at 7 p.m. April 10, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave., in St. Paul Park. All are invited to attend.


COMMUNITY EGG HUNT -- St. Luke Lutheran's 12th annual Awesome Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, at the Cottage Grove church. Everyone is invited to come and bring a friend, according to the press release. Storyteller and puppeteer Bill Eisenmann will explain the Easter story. The church is located at the intersection of 70th Street and Hinton Ave., in Cottage Grove.

EASTER FOR KIDS -- Children are invited to a special program, "Easter for Kids," from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, at the corner of 90th Street and County Road 19, in Cottage Grove. The free program, designed for children, ages 3 to 11, will include Bible stories, an Easter egg hunt, a craft, snacks, games and music. Preregistration is preferred but not required. WORSHIP, BREAKFAST, EGGS -- The congregation at historic St. Mary's Episcopal Church-Basswood Grove, in Denmark Township, will celebrate the resurrection this year with two Easter festival Eucharist services, at 8:30 and 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. A pancake breakfast will be served in Guild Hall at 9:45 a.m., and there will be an Easter egg hunt for children at 10:15 a.m. St. Mary's-Basswood Grove is located at 8435 South St. Croix Trail, north of Hastings, and one and a half miles south of Afton Alps.


TRAVELING SOCCER BENEFIT -- The Cottage Grove boys U13C2 traveling soccer team is hosting a fundraiser night at Carbone's in Cottage Grove from 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 13. Fifteen percent of all proceeds go directly to the team. Eat in, carry out and delivery are eligible.
